Obituary for Joseph Caribou

Joseph  Caribou
Joseph Emile Caribou “Scotty the Rock” was born Monday, September 20, 1943, at Burntwood Lake, Manitoba to Joe and Ann Caribou.
“Scotty” grew up in Burntwood Lake, Sherridon and Pukatawagan. He worked for CN Rail Line and was also a trapper and commercial fisherman. He loved being in the outdoors especially in Burntwood Lake, where he spent the summers at his camp with his family at Scotty’s Island. When he was home in Pukatawagan, he would go set nets and berry picking with long-time friend Florentine Dumas. He was an avid church goer.
Emile “Scotty” passed away peacefully in the early morning of Friday, October 5, 2018 at the Rod McGillivary Memorial Care Home, Opaskwayak, at the age of 75 years.
Scotty is survived by his sons Floyd North and family, Paul Dumas and family; brothers Marcel (Anna) Caribou and family, Thomas Caribou and family; sisters Hilda Dumas and family, Caroline Daniels and family, Sylvia (Joey) Caribou and family; nephews Baptiste Hunter and family, Marcel (Esther) Dumas and family, Tom Jones Castel, Ernie Castel, Emile Castel, Adam Castel, Marcel Dumas and family, Martin Charolette, Kenneth Dumas, Joe Dumas, Gabe (Sissy) Dumas; nieces Sandra Castel and family, Gladys Morin and family, Ann Nicholas and family, Shirley Dumas Colomb and family, Sylvia Colomb and family, Ann Colomb and family, Morning Star, Ava Maria, Serenity, Autumn, Roseanne, Flora, Selena Maryann, Sandra, Lovelynn; friends Eli and Shirley Castel and family, Stan and Cathy Castel and family, Jimmy Colomb and family, Rita Bighetty, Adlaide Bighetty, Carol Caribou, Joe Caribou, Gabe Bighetty Sr., Lazar Sinclair, Rubin Colomb; and all his grandchildren who he loved dearly and always carried them around when he was well and able.
Scotty was predeceased by his parents Joe and Ann Caribou; brothers Baptiste Caribou, Joseph Caribou; sister Maryanne Castel; brothers-in-law Dennis Castel, Zeno Dumas, George Colomb, Oliver Dumas; sisters-in-law Roseanne Hunter, Helen Dumas; nieces Muriel Sinclair, Lorna Dumas, Marie Dumas, Jessica Colomb, Rosie Dumas, Daniella Daniels, April Dumas; nephews Thomas Hunter, Ernest Hunter, Alvin Dumas, Greg Dumas, Marvin Dumas; cousins Vincent Dumas, Walter Dumas; aunts and uncles Joe and Ann Colomb, Maryann and John Nabess, Juliet and Sandy Patterson, Jimmy and Annie Caribou. If we forgot anyone, it was not intentional.
