Margaret Flett (nee Sayese) was born Thursday, November 25, 1954, at St. Anthony’s General Hospital in The Pas, Manitoba to Mary and William Thomas Sayese. Margaret was one of ten children. She grew up along side six brothers and three sisters. They all grew up in Big Eddy.
Margaret was a humble, kind, generous woman. She was unapologetically herself; she always had the room roaring with laughter with her humor and even louder with her memorable laugh.
Margaret was blessed with four children; Charmaine, Silas, Tommy and James (Brittany) and seven grandchildren; Alexis, Kerridyn, Ronan, Aubri, Brady, Vera and Tamara.
Margaret was united in marriage with Dale Flett on July 27, 1996. They were together for many years until they both decided to go their separate ways.
Her favourite hobby was creating beautiful, beaded regalia, dresses and star blankets for her family, especially for her granddaughters Aubri and Brady. They had the opportunity to display their grandmother’s talents and creativity during huge community events such as The Northern Trapper’s Festival and Opaskwayak Indigenous Days. She was our family’s seamstress and came to the rescue many times.
Margaret received her education at Big Eddy School and in later years, attended Margaret Barbour Collegiate Institute. In her younger years, Margaret was very active in Woman’s fastball. She was pitcher for both MT Selects and Trotters.
Margaret was an active member of the Church of Redeemer since her teen year starting with Junior A.C.W. and later transitioning to the A.C.W. She contributed to the community by making pallbearer ribbons. Margaret made her own funeral pallbearer ribbons.
Mom was a home care aide at St. Anthony’s Hospital and McGillivary Care Home. She loved travelling, especially to visit auntie Helen in Cumberland House. She loved to sing and dance and was the only one in her family that knew how to jig.
Mom was a loving and supportive person. She never missed a family barbecue, birthday, wedding, graduation or anniversary. Family meant the world to her and she loved them unconditionally. Margaret kept the family teekom free. Mom was a great mentor for family, especially to her nieces and nephews.
Margaret passed away in her home Tuesday, February 10th, 2026 at the age of 71.
Margaret will be missed by her children Charmaine, Silas, Thomas, and James (Brittany); grandchildren Alexis, Kerridyn, Ronan, Aubri, Brady, Vera and Tamara; brothers William Thomas, Jim (Elizabeth), Willard, and Johnny (Alice); numerous nieces and nephews; the Ladies of A.C.W; her great nieces and nephews, although she seen them as her own grandchildren.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents Mary and William Thomas Sayese; siblings Silas, Emma, Henry (Vera), Louisa (Charlie), Elsie; sister-in-law, Maria; along with numerous aunts, uncles and friends. If we forgot anyone it was not intentional.
