It is with deep sadness that we the family of Solomon Raymond Linklater regret to announce his passing on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Manitoba, surrounded by his loving family.
Born Wednesday, August 23, 1972, in The Pas, Manitoba, he was the son of the late Solomon and Cecilia (Dumas) Linklater. Solomon spent much of his childhood with his grandparents, Philothe and Joseph Linklater, on Potato Island, camping, swimming, and fishing with his siblings and cousins. He loved to hunt and fish with his bros, who truly meant the world to him. He greeted everyone with a big bear hug, a smile, and a laugh that you could hear from a mile away.
Sol (Jr.) was a jack of all trades and not afraid of learning something new. From construction, to building animal enclosures, working as a security guard, operating a snow plow, driving truck, and paving driveways, he took pride in putting in a full days work and it irritated him if others didn’t do the same.
He had a love of all sports, but his favorite team to watch was the Philadelphia Flyers. Whenever they would win by a lot he would say, “that wasn’t a game, that was a lesson!” His greatest accomplishments of all were his babies, who he loved more than moose meat and mustard! Whether it was watching them play sports, perform in a play, sing a song, play an instrument, graduate from High School, or just spending time together telling stories and jokes, his children were his pride and joy.
In January 2006, his life would change for the next 20 years. Living in his home community of Pukatawagan, he met the love of his life, Sandra. They lived in Alberta for a short period of time before getting married and moving to Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. His life was filled with competitive crib games around the kitchen table, washer toss, horseshoe tournaments, listening to music, and several cross Canada road trips. He always said he knew that he could marry Sandra after spending five days trapped together in a car.
Solomon is survived by his wife Sandra and his children, Bodie, Jacelyn, Bladen, Emma, Rylee, Lauchie, and Shakira Dumas; his siblings, Linda, Valerie, Joanne, Connie, Dave and Lloyd; special siblings, Irene, Crystal, Kelly, Darryl, Max; his best friend, Jim Davy; as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, too numerous to mention, but each one very special.
In addition to his parents, Solomon was predeceased by his brother, Ramsay; paternal grandparents, Joseph and Philiothe Linklater; maternal grandparents, Alexander and Flora Dumas; and his K9 best friend, Charlie. If we forgot anyone, it was not intentional.
